It’s human nature to blame other people when certain things in life go wrong. Humans don’t naturally enjoy taking the blame for anything, especially since we aren’t always sure what’s gone wrong in the first place!

This is usually the case when it comes to marketing relating issues – the poor agencies often get all of the blame for some kind of error. By choosing to use an SEO company in the first place, you’re trusting someone or a group of people to take care of your online business in terms of getting your website higher up in the search engines and making it rank for your chosen keywords.

Let’s say something does go wrong…who are you going to blame?

Pandas and penguins were all well and good when you were going to visit them at your local zoo, however; now they’re dreaded updates when it comes to Google…those words manage to strike fear into the heart of fully grown men and women – especially if you know you’ve been a little dark when it comes to your SEO efforts.

Seo is constantly changing. The methods that firms have used to build their reputation may no longer be allowed. Even agencies that have tried to change with SEO can end up being slightly out of date when it comes to their efforts. If you follow the basics, you can’t really go wrong – but people who have strayed a little from the guidelines could be in for a big shock if the all seeing, all knowing Google finds out.

It’s so important that you pay attention to any emails you get from Google, or notice whether your website is failing miserably in the rankings. You need to work out what has gone wrong and how you can fix it if something like this is to happen. Instead of going in all guns blazing firing insults at your SEO agency, simply take a step back and see what advice they give you. They may be able to help you put a plan of action into place.

Either you or your SEO company need to work out which update has hit you – the cutsie wittle penguin or the big cuddly panda (note: not actually cutsie, wittle, or cuddly. Terrifying in reality). Google are becoming more transparent when it comes to penalties, so you should be able to easily figure out why you’ve been penalised. If you’ve been particularly naughty, you’ll get an email from the webmasters. This can be rectified though, with a service like High Impact Google penalty removal.

If you do happen to get a Google penalty, just take a step back from the situation and don’t immediately play the blame game. If you’ve worked with multiple SEO firms it could the something one of the previous did for you that’s only just hitting you now. Sometimes it’s not anybodies fault at all, and the situation couldn’t have been avoided.

Things change all the time when it comes to SEO, so make sure you get your facts straight first and don’t go blaming anybody. Your marketing agency won’t always be to blame when something goes wrong!
