If you have a small business, then you need to be blogging. It is a great way to share content, reach a new audience, and get your brand’s name out there. A study recently found that small businesses that have a blog generate over 120% more leads than those small businesses without a blog.

A blog also helps you to rank higher on search engines; Google loves new and regularly updated content! But if you’re not yet blogging alongside your business, what are you waiting for? Here are some of the step you need to take to get your blog off the ground.

Site and Hosting

If you already have an established website, then it can be easy to arrange and add in a blog section on the website. If you are just starting out, then first thing’s first, and you need to get yourself a website and somewhere to blog. Being able to be self-hosted for your blog and website is the way to go, as it allows you much more freedom. If you’re pretty tech-savvy, then great. But if you need some guidance, then looking up some helpful tips with domain hosting will help you to get started. Then you can focus on the important side of it all; creating and sharing content.

Be Consistent

There is nothing worse for small businesses having a blog that is hardly ever updated. First of all, it makes it pretty pointless being there is you don’t really use it. You need to update the post with content and be consistent. It might be that you decide two days a week that you will publish a post to start with. It can then go from there. Your web traffic needs consistency, as well as your customers. Readers will keep coming back if they like what you’re doing. They won’t like it if there is nothing updated regularly.

Get Social

Social media is really important for small businesses. Your customers are all on there, so that is where they will look for updates. You need to make sure that you are on those channels and sharing your content on them. It allows followers to share content, meaning that they are doing the promoting for you, sharing it to their friends who might not have heard about you before. So be on social media, sharing posts, and interacting with your followers.

Have Content Ready To Go

Scheduling blog posts is one of the best things in blogging. So don’t think that you have to write something and share it immediately. Dedicate time to creating content and scheduling it for different times. You don’t want to be too rigid with your content plan, though, as things in the news can crop up and be relevant for you to share some commentary on. But having content ready to go is always good in blogging.
