Technology is getting more and more advanced as time goes on. And us humans are losing our jobs because of it. Here’s what they’ve taken so far.

Bus drivers, taxi drivers, and truck drivers

Electric cars are becoming more of a thing as time goes on. They are able to drive themselves, as a pose to being driven, so there’s no more need for a human to operate it. This is still a pretty new thing so it won’t be put into place just yet, but give it a few years and you’ll be hopping on a bus with no driver!

Phone operators and telemarketers

You know them calls you get about being involved in an imaginary car crash, and that you’re entitled to a large sum of money (yeah right!) Well the voice at the end of the phone isn’t human anymore. It’s a robot that responds every time you answer their question… Regardless of what you say.

Postal delivery services

There is now no need for all the many postal delivery services anymore because now there are companies like physicaladdress. Otherwise known as a virtual mailbox. All you have to do is supply them with your physical address, then the mail gets sent there, and then gets scanned and uploaded to your virtual mailbox.

Cashiers

You can find self-checkout lines in almost every grocery store nowadays. They are still under the watchful eye of humans for now though, but that’s only to scan their badge when a problem happens. There is a cleverly placed weight sensor which calculates what you’re putting in your bag, meaning it’s very difficult to try and trick the system and add items into your bag that haven’t been paid for.

Prescriptions

A lot of pharmacies now have robots that are able to find and separate prescriptions for customers. These are a lot more efficient than humans because they prevent mistakes by knowing exactly what code is what, as a pose to a human that has to look and compare notes all the time.

Journalists and reporters

Robots are a new way to retrieve valuable information and generate it into a readable piece of writing. All that has to be done is give the robot all the keywords you would like it to find, and it’ll gather it all together for you. A lot quicker than any human could do.

Travel agents

Remember back in the day when people wanted to go abroad; they’d go into a travel agents and book it through them to get the best deals? Well, that barely ever happens anymore. Everything is done online yourself, and it only takes five minutes.

Chefs and cooks

Usually, in supermarkets, there are robots in the kitchen that prepare packaged food like fresh sandwiches and salads. They are used because they can get the meals made six times quicker than any human can, including sealing all the plastic containers so no bacteria can get in.

So as you can see. We once joked about how robots may one day take over the world. But it’s happening already…
